I have been interest in Neuro-Linguistic Programming for many years. I went on a Pat Burgess training course with my horse many moons back and she introduced me to anchoring (though I only discovered what it was called later) and since that day I have used the technique before every competition round to regain a calm, focussed state.
I have quite a few books and have toyed with it, but it was only last year (2010) at the Your Horse Live exhibition that it all came together. I had just bought the new Kelly Marks book, Perfect Confidence' (I do like my books!) and wander past a stall with NLP on it. It was a quiet spell, and I had a chat and took away details of the training offered by Quest for Success. Sitting down for a coffee with my friend, I read the leaflet and thought - "wow, this looks great, how am I going to convince my wife to let me spend the money?"
Back home and my wife Carol was her usual supportive self - go for it, she said, you have been interested in this long enough!
So, I was on the phone to Chrissie and soon the pack arrived for my pre-coursework. Having just done a year of Teacher Training in my spare time, I was happy to dive into the assignment worksheet and got it done over Xmas - snowed in and just would have been bored!
Then the day of the training arrived - nearly didn't get there owing to missing oil filler cap (but that's another story) and into the most amazing week of my life! Chrissie, Ruth and Cherry were really lovely to work with and I have never known days go so fast. Chrissie is an inspirational trainer and such a nice person.
The week flew by and back home to put it into practice. My goal is long-term to teach part-time and run an equine confidence practice. I also work full time (for now) so juggling required! My first client is a work colleague who is nervous about jumping after a fall. I have another three clients to work with and I am going to get great results!
Of course, this isn't enough for me, so I have booked Master Practitioner training for October and already started on the materials.
No stopping me now!
By the way, I am nearer 60 than 50 next week, no easing off for me!
Now I need to work on getting my pension too!
